New Years resolutions? Yes or no? So many people make resolutions every January 1st. Eat healthy, lose weight, get a new job, make more money, spend more time doing whatever enjoy, etc. I’ve done it many times myself. Mine are usually things like eat more fruits and vegetables. Go to the gym. Lose weight. Drink more water. Get my blog up and going. Things like that.

Somehow regardless of how many times I made those same resolutions, the next year I would need to make the same resolutions again. Why? If resolving to do something on January 1st is so monumental then why do we keep failing?

Do we forget or just give up? If you made resolutions this year how is it going? Are you still on track or have you already thrown in the towel? I don’t usually just give up, but after getting home from work my first thought isn’t to go hit the gym. I’m tired. I need to make dinner. I need to spend some time talking to my kids. My husband. And somehow still find time to clean my house or do laundry.

Life sometimes interferes with what we want to do – with our goals. If we aren’t diligent our resolutions just become wishful thinking. We have to make time to do the things that matter to us. We need to let go of the things that we can. Does my daughter care if we talk about her day in a spotless kitchen? Is a spotless kitchen more important than spending time with my family?

Priorities. Whether you made resolutions this year or not. Whether you’ve kept them or not. Something that you should absolutely prioritize is finding time to do what makes you happy. Being happy should be on any resolutions list that you make. It should be your goal every year, month, week and day. Don’t wait until you have time to be happy, make time. Do it now.

So make at least one goal for 2021. Spend this year finding your happy.
